Odyssey of the Mind is an international educational program that provides creative problem-solving opportunities for students from kindergarten through college. Kids apply their creativity to solve problems that range from building mechanical devices to presenting their own interpretation of literary classics. They then bring their solutions to competition on the local, state, and World level. Thousands of teams from throughout the U.S. and from about 25 other countries participate in the program.

New Jersey Odyssey of the Mind is sponsored by Creativity Unlimited in New Jersey, a non-profit organzation developed for the sole purpose of bringing OotM to the students of New Jersey. We hold two regional competitions (Liberty and Lighthouse) annually in the spring, followed by the NJ State Finals. These competitions are judged by volunteers from the schools and families of our competitors, and the winners from the state finals in each problem and division advance to the World Finals, where they join in competition against kids from around the globe. We hope you can join us and look forward to seeing you at this year's competitions!

The final arrangements for the World Prep Day have been confirmed! It will be held in Hazlet at the Middle Road School (305 Middle Rd, Hazlet, NJ). The teams who are going to help design the Creativity Booth activity and the our Banner are welcomed to attend. You do not have to bring all of the team members, just those who might want to participate. Your pin and T-shirt order will be there. If you will not be there, contact to make arrangements to receive your orders.

The NJ State Finals were held yesterday, Saturday, April 12th in Woodstown, NJ! Thanks to everyone who made this an excellent tournament! Most of all - congratulations to our winners! See you in Maryland!

Have a Cake Walk. At the Night of Champions, Spontaneous Tournament, Games Night, or some other event, tape numbers 1-30 on the floor. Play music and have each participant walk from one number to the other until the music stops. Draw (spin or roll) a number from 1-30. The person standing on that number wins and chooses a donated cake. Each participant contributes a specific amount to play, e.g. $1, $2, $3, etc.
